...or you've got live musicians to keep everyone's mind occupied!
Live music for the arrival of the guests is one of the most neglected parts of a ceremony, and for obvious reasons. You certainly wouldn't want to spend all your time planning this part of the music and forget about the exit section! Yet, music is as functional here as in any other part: it creates a warm atmosphere for the arrival of every single one of your guests; it gives restless children something to watch; it occupies the mind of a nervous groom.
Here are our top Mercian String Quartet tips for getting your ceremony off with a buzz:
- Think about what you're like as a couple (are you reflective? are you bursting with energy? are there any artists or composers who mean a lot to the two of you?)
- Plan more music than you need. Always more music than you need, no matter what a punctual person you are!
- Think about your guests as well as you. You want to set your scene, but it's your guests who'll be listening. Maybe you've invited lots of young children who'd love music to dance to.
While we're reflecting, share with us what music you think would represent you. What's your favourite waiting music?
